Ingredients

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Add sugar, egg, salt, and shortening.

    Mix on low speed.

    Remove from mixer and add about 2/3 of the flour.

    Turn out onto a floured board and work in remaining flour.

    Grease sides of a large bowl.

  7. 7

    Place dough in bowl, turning to grease all sides.

    Cover loosely and refrigerate, punching down occasionally.

    Will keep well 3–4 days.

    Allow dough to rise about 1 hour before baking.

    Bake at 400° until brown.
