Pat Bates’s Hushpuppies

Ingredients

• 1 cup white cornmeal
• 1 cup flour
• 1 (No. 2) can cream corn
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1/4 cup each chopped onion, bell pepper, jalapeño

• Dry Ingredients

• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions

   Do not mix all Ingredients together until just before cooking.

   Combine ingredients: and drop into deep hot oil.

   Cook until golden brown and drain well.
